HDTV Reviews- Where to Find Them

So you've decided to purchase an HDTV and you're looking for the best HDTV reviews? There are dozens of sources for HDTV reviews, and all you have to do now is find the Best HDTV to meet your needs, then sit back and enjoy the incredible picture and sound quality of digital programming. Sound simple? That's because it basically is. Just like all the best technology available today, you don't need to know how HDTV works, you only need to know that it does. That means that you don't need to find HDTV reviews with technical jargon that you don't understand - you only need to find reviews that tell you what you need to know - which features are available on which digital television models, and which HDTVs have been best received by consumers.

There are dozens of websites that offer HDTV reviews. At www.shopping.com, consumers can find an array of information about HDTV, including the option to do side-by-side comparisons of two particular models at a time. You have the option of searching by model or size and the information is written in an easy-to-read format making the site a useful tool.

One site that does offer an extensive number of HDTV reviews is Next Tag. Located online at www.nextag.com, the site has HDTV reviews available for some two thousand models. The reviews include information about that particular model, including where to buy it. There is also a chart that shows the number of reviews for that particular model that have been posted. While these charts don't show the actual text of the reviews (many models have more than one hundred reviews), the chart does indicate whether the reviewer's comments were positive, neutral or negative. With just a glance at the chart, you can tell whether the majority of people who wrote reviews had good, bad or indifferent things to say about that model. While that might not be of great help, certainly a particular brand with a high number of negative HDTV reviews would be potentially valuable information.

For more technical HDTV reviews, check out HD Reviews online at http://hdsource.highlydef.com. This site features professional reviews of some of the newest technology being offered. While it's not written for the novice, there is good information if you can understand the more technical aspects of the site.

Remember that HDTV reviews, like reviews of all products, are subjective. While you should use the information you find, you should also not depend on any one review but instead use your common sense when deciding what information is most pertinent to the decision you are about to make. And be sure to post your own HDTV reviews after you've had time to evaluate that purchase!

CRT Rear Projection and Direct View Service and Repair

The infamous CRT rear projector, whether NTSC or HDTV, remains one of the greatest display products to have hit the consumer market. They lasted over two decades until the flat panel display phenomenon wiped them out. The same can be said of CRT direct view, the TVs we all grew up on. While big, bulky and heavy, these displays could deliver some great imaging, producing bright dynamic pictures and inky blacks in medium to dark ambient light environments. For rear projection, smaller sizes (below 50") could even perform well in brighter environments. CRT rear projection and direct view technology was used to drive the HDTV revolution out of the gate and along the way there were some really stellar videophile performers meeting most of the imaging science aspects of video standards. These products have a typical 10-15 year life span based on normal usage and CRT wear and tear. Before deciding to throw out this technology, you should reflect on the imaging performance you will be losing, the less expensive service costs and how you use a display in your application.

The Wonderful and Sometimes Confusing World of HDMI Connections

HDMI (which stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface) was developed to accommodate the emerging HD digital technologies which have now entered the mainstream of home entertainment. It was planned as a "one wire" digital solution to both audio and video requirements. It is also one of the most confusing connection technologies available to the general public - especially when people hdmi(3)are used to more traditional interconnectivity. As HDMI attempts to do what it was designed to do, part of the process involves the pieces of the puzzle communicating with each other (sometimes referred to as "handshaking"). This two way communication causes...
